ChromTuner for iPhone & Apple Watch
The Precision Tuner, Now in Your Pocket.
The same YIN pitch engine as the Mac app — accurate to a fraction of a cent, wrapped in the warm retro LED look, with a haptic tap the moment your string locks in. Free means free: no ads, no account, no subscription. And since version 1.1, it's on your wrist too.
In the Hand
Reads Like Hardware.
The warm LED look carries from your Mac to your pocket to your wrist — a tuner that feels like an instrument, wherever you play.

New in 1.1 · Apple Watch
Tune From Your Wrist.
ChromTuner 1.1 adds a full Apple Watch app. The same YIN engine listens through the watch's own microphone — your phone can stay in your bag. The OLED display becomes the LED screen: a live meter, string indicators, and the big seven-segment note, readable at arm's length on a dark stage.
Haptic Lock. A gentle tap on your wrist the moment a string holds in tune — your eyes never leave the instrument.
Digital Crown. Turn the crown to flip through tunings, one detent click per preset.
Standalone & Offline. The engine runs entirely on the watch. No phone nearby, no network, no account.
Included free with the iPhone app · watchOS 11+

Private by Design.
Audio is processed in memory, on-device, and never stored or transmitted. No analytics, no tracking, no account — the App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected" because there's nothing to collect.
Playing at a Desk? There's a Mac App.
ChromTuner for macOS reads any USB interface at full sample rate via Core Audio, lives in your menu bar, and is a one-time $6.99 purchase — direct from this site or on the Mac App Store.

The Free Version Is a Tuner, Not a Demo.
Everything below the line ships free, at full detection accuracy — the Pro unlock buys breadth, never precision. Pro is a one-time $6.99 purchase, no subscription.
FAQ
Questions, Answered.
Quick answers about temperaments, instruments, accuracy, and what actually runs on your Mac.
Is the Free Version Actually Useful?
Yes. Free gets you chromatic mode (tune any instrument, any note), Standard E and Drop D guitar presets with tap-to-play reference tones, two displays, haptic in-tune feedback, and the identical full-precision detection engine Pro uses. Nothing about accuracy is gated. What Does Pro Unlock?
All 15 instrument presets, the Peterson-style strobe and waveform displays, 8 historical temperaments, A4 calibration from 349–500 Hz with auto-detect, capo through fret 11, ±11 semitone transpose, a live Hz readout, and full personalization. One purchase of $6.99 — no subscription, and Family Sharing applies. Is It the Same Engine as the Mac App?
Yes — the identical YIN pitch-detection core with octave-error correction and median filtering, processing at the microphone's full sample rate. It's accurate to a fraction of a cent on clean signals.Does It Work Offline?
Completely. The app makes zero network calls — audio never leaves your iPhone, and there's no account or analytics. Is There an Apple Watch App?
Yes — version 1.1 added a full Apple Watch app, included free with the iPhone app (watchOS 11 or later). It runs the same YIN detection engine standalone on the watch, listening through the watch's microphone, so you can tune without taking your phone out. You get a live LED meter, string indicators, the seven-segment note display, a haptic tap when the string locks in tune, and the Digital Crown cycles through your tunings. Pro presets unlocked on your iPhone sync to the watch automatically.
